What to Expect
- There will be people at the build site with skills and some without skills. Everyone's help and ability will be appreciated.
- You will learn something new and your work will help build a home
- Habitat for Humanity Yorkton sponsors provide a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack, oh how we love our sponsors!
- Bottled water is always available
- A tent is set up on site for rest periods and breaks - you can stow your purses, bags and gear in the trailer, however, security of personal belongings will not be provided so use your best judgement.
The Build Site
Arrival
- Sign-in at the host trailer
- Be sure to let the Site Supervisor know if you have had safety training or require safety training
- Find your Site Supervisor who will inform you of the tasks and duties you'll have during the work day
- If you have your own tools, label them with your name (they are your responsibility). If not, pick up the tools you will need for your assigned duties
- Pick up a hard hat, grab a pair of safety goggles, and tie up your boots.
- Start working
- Meet people! Have a blast!
Departure
- Check in the tools, hardhat, safety goggles
- Collect your own tools and check to ensure you have yours and we have ours.
- Sign out at the host tent
- If you must track your volunteer hours, have the forms provided by your organization signed by the Site Supervisor or other Habitat staff member the day before you leave
- Shake hands with your fellow volunteers, thank them for their work and hyelp on the build
- Be proud of what you have done.
