Own A Habitat Home
Habitat for Humanity Yorkton's mission is to build affordable homes with low-income families who currently live in overcrowded and substandard housing.
Families wanting to partner with Habitat for Humanity Yorkton to buy a Habitat home undergo a rigorous screening process, including police, credit and personal reference checks.
In order for families to qualify for a Habitat for Humanity Yorkton home, they must meet the following criteria:
The Need
Families must be living in either substandard or overcrowded housing conditions or have high rent relative to your income
Willing to Partner
Families must be wiling to volunteer 500 hours of "Seat Equity" towards the construction of their home, a new Habitat community, or other habitat programs such as fundraising initiatives. They must also attend a series of workshops on home ownership.
Income Requirements
- Families must be able to repay a zero-down payment, interest-free mortgage over 25 years and not have an overwhelming amount of debt. They must be a legal resident of Canada for at least three years and be able to show a consistent work history for those three years.
- The entire family's employment income and/or long-term disability (ODSP) income are considered. We do not accept families on Social Assistance or Unemployment.
- The entire family income before taxes must be in the following range:
